Service and terms of use

FileMagic is a file conversion and processing service provided free of charge by Perspective Analytics SAS, identified in the legal notice, without accounts or subscriptions. These terms are available before you use the tools. Read them before starting an operation: by requesting the operation, you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not start the operation.

Some tools run in the browser; others send data to our servers. Size, format and usage limits depend on the tool. Requests may be rejected when capacity is exhausted, limits are exceeded or security is at risk.

Files and permitted uses

You must have the rights and permissions needed to process your input, including those relating to personal data and confidentiality. You retain your rights to your files and results, subject to third-party rights. Within the limits of your rights, you authorise us only to carry out operations necessary for the requested service, without transferring your intellectual property rights.

Do not submit illegal or malicious content, infringe third-party rights, bypass protections or overload the service with abusive automation. We may restrict or suspend affected access to protect the service, in proportion to the abuse or risk identified.

Minors must have the necessary permission and support of their legal representative. Do not submit production secrets, active private keys, classified documents or files whose disclosure could have serious consequences.

Other people’s data in professional use

If you act for a business or organisation, do not send files containing personal data of customers, employees or other people to server-based tools without prior written agreement with Perspective Analytics. An appropriate data processing agreement, setting out each party’s obligations under GDPR Article 28 where we act as a processor, must be concluded before any submission.

These general terms do not, by themselves, constitute that agreement. Contact to check whether your use can be accepted. Tools running entirely in the browser do not send us the processed content; you remain responsible for checking their suitability for your own obligations.

Keep originals and check results

FileMagic is not a backup or archiving service. Keep an independent copy of originals before any operation. Results may expire and cannot be recovered after deletion.

Conversion may change a file’s quality, layout or content. Optical character recognition (OCR) may produce errors and metadata removal may be incomplete. Check the result before replacing an original, sharing it or relying on it, particularly for legal, medical, financial or security purposes.

The service is not designed for critical activities, processing requiring specific certification or guaranteed continuity. These precautions do not remove your statutory rights.

Availability and liability

We implement measures appropriate to the operation and security of FileMagic. The service is provided without a commitment to uninterrupted availability or suitability for specific needs that have not been expressly agreed. Errors or interruptions may occur, including during maintenance or security work. These limitations do not release Perspective Analytics SAS from its legal obligations or from performing the agreed services.

Perspective Analytics SAS may be held liable under the conditions set by applicable law. Any contribution to damage from use contrary to these terms is assessed under those same rules, without automatic exemption from liability or changes to the legal rules of evidence.

No clause excludes or reduces rights to compensation or statutory guarantees where they are mandatory. Free access does not waive those rights. Personal data protection rules continue to apply.

Force majeure is assessed under Article 1218 of the French Civil Code: the event must be beyond the affected party’s control, not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was concluded, and prevent performance despite appropriate measures. Its effects on suspension or termination of the contract are those provided by law. A provider outage or cyberattack does not, by itself, establish force majeure.

Changes to the service and terms

You may stop using the service at any time, without charge. We may change or withdraw tools for future use. Important changes are announced on the site with reasonable notice, except in a security emergency or where required by law. They do not change the terms applying to operations already requested or the rights arising from them. For each new operation, the version presented before it starts applies under the acceptance process described above.

The privacy policy explains data processing. Reading it does not constitute blanket consent to new processing.

Governing law and complaints

These terms are governed by French law, without depriving consumers of mandatory protections under the law applicable to their situation, including that of their country of habitual residence where private international law so provides. Jurisdiction is determined by applicable rules, including those protecting consumers.

To report a problem or seek an amicable resolution, contact or write to the registered office listed in the legal notice. This does not limit your legal remedies. If a clause is unenforceable, the others continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
